The Republican Senate Committee meeting room in Trenton, N.J., uses SM52 surface-mount speakers and a WA200-61B rack from Atlas Sound to deliver vocal clarity. |
Over the last 60 years, Atlas Sound speakers have become one of the top choices for venues like conference rooms that demand extremely clear, crisp sound. In July 2005, Atlas was charged with another important assignment: to provide transparent, highly intelligible audio to the Republican Senate Committee meeting room in Trenton, N.J. The new install, including Atlas Sound SM52 surface-mount speakers and an Atlas Sound WA200-61B rack, delivers vocal clarity to every member of the Senate, gallery, and personnel in attendance.
“It is an old room in the New Jersey State House that had been renovated a few years ago, but the former sound system wasn’t performing well,” says Rob Leiggi, technical sales manager at KSB Electronics, who oversaw the Atlas Sound installation. “The old system didn’t deliver the intelligibility, volume, or coverage that the Senate members demanded of their meetings, and the appearance of the speakers wasn’t conducive to the style of the room.”
That’s when Leiggi turned to Atlas Sound for the solution. He chose Atlas’ SM52 surface-mount speakers based on their high-quality sound; classy, low-key appearance; and excellent dispersion. Each speaker is used to deliver the Senate member’s dialogue to the attendees of the meeting, as well as the gallery and support personnel. This is an easy task for the SM52 speakers because they are designed to provide smooth, even sound coverage (90 degrees by 90 degrees). The high-frequency section is symmetrical for equal coverage in both vertical and horizontal cabinet mounting positions, making these speakers ideal for conference rooms of any size.
To accommodate and secure important components like the conference system control units, base stations, chargers, and amplifiers, the New Jersey Republican Senate relies on an Atlas Sound WA200-61B rack. Its multiple shelves hold a number of base stations as they are charging for the next meeting, while the locking door keeps the components secure when the room is not in use.
“We have been an Atlas dealer for many years and have always been extremely happy with the quality of the Atlas products,” Leiggi continues. “The SM52s are perfect for this room because of their appearance and excellent sound quality. And the Atlas rack is certainly a solid performer, as they always are. It looks great sitting in the room, and the knockouts allow for very easy, neat wire management. The Senate has met in this room several times and everyone is very pleased with the sound.”
