Aviom Unveils the D-16c A-Net Card

Aviom's newly developed D-16c A-Net card distributes audio in Aviom’s A-Net Pro16 protocol via Cat-5e cable directly from the Digico console to Aviom personal mixers and other Pro16 series products.

Aviom, manufacturer of the Pro16 monitor mixing system, has introduced its newly developed D-16c A-Net card for use with the Digico (UK) line of digital consoles. The card distributes audio in the form of Aviom’s proprietary A-Net Pro16 protocol via Cat-5e cable directly from the Digico console to Aviom personal mixers and other Pro16 series products. No analog input device is required when connecting Aviom audio networking products to the D-16c.

“This is a major technological advance for users of the Digico D1 and D5 digital consoles, as well as for Aviom users,” Ray Legnini, marketing product manager at Aviom, says. “We have had numerous requests to create a direct digital interface for our monitoring and audio networking solutions for use with Digico’s consoles. The direct connectivity simplifies the Pro16 system’s use in both live performance and recording applications.”

The dual-slot D-16c A-Net fits into an adjacent pair of output expansion slots in the Digico console’s DigiRack, the I/O connection rack that empowers the D1 and D5 control surfaces. The D-16c allows a front-of-house engineer to assign and send 16 mono or up to eight stereo channels of audio in the digital domain directly from the Digico console’s software-based control surface to an unlimited number of connected A-Net Pro16 devices. The D-16c supports stereo channel linking for Pro16 personal mixers via board-level DIP switches. Digico will be supporting the D-16c via a software update for its complete product line.

The D-16c A-Net card is compatible with Aviom’s A-16II and A-16R personal mixers, the AN-16/o output module, as well as with the company’s A-16D and A-16D Pro A-Net distribution products. All A-Net based products can be connected with up to 500ft. of Cat-5e cable between each device.
