Nady Systems recently introduced two new sound pressure level (SPL) meters: the digital DSM-1 and the analog ASM-2. Both units provide a full array of professional sound measurement features for accurate testing and evaluation in a broad range of applications.
The DSM-1 offers two level ranges of measurement between 30dB and 130dB at 32Hz–8kHz. Features include easy-to-read, four-digit LCD display with selectable permanent backlight, selectable A or C weighting and fast or slow response, maximum Hold selector with Hold button to capture input at any time, alarm indicating that input is above range, internal battery tester, built-in, calibrated, linear omnidirectional 1/2in. electret condenser microphone, and treaded insert to attach to optional SMT-3 tripod or standard camera tripod. The DSM-1 uses a 9VDC alkaline battery with up to 50 hours of battery life and comes with a foam windscreen and sturdy vinyl carrying case.
The ASM-2 features seven sound-level ranges providing measurements from 50dB to 126dB. A and C weightings allow users to check compliance with safety regulations and perform proper acoustic analysis. Other features include slow and fast response settings to check peak and average noise levels, built-in battery condition indicator, phono-type output jack for connection to home theater or test equipment, and threaded insert that enables attachment to a camera tripod for increased accuracy.
