Polycom Introduces Voice and Videoconferencing Products at InfoComm

Collaborative communications solutions provider Polycom has introduced a suite of new products for voice and video conferencing along with advanced network solutions that simplify management and scheduling of multipoint conferences. The following will be introduced at InfoComm 2005:

Polycom’s QSX allows SoundStation conference phone users to connect a laptop PC and dial the conference phone to automatically display content on the projectors in up to five QSX-enabled conference rooms.

QSX: Voice + Content Conferencing
Polycom’s QSX brings a new level of productivity to the world’s 1.7 million SoundStation conference phone users by offering an integrated, add-on solution for powerful content sharing. A QSX system allows a SoundStation user to easily connect a laptop PC, then dial the conference phone to automatically display content on the projectors in up to five QSX-enabled conference rooms, and/or with up to 10 other remote meeting participants through a web browser.

The cost-effective Voice+Content operation of the QSX does not require participants to download any applications or change settings on their PC. It does not require service fees or scheduling, and the application is so simple that it does not require extensive training or IT staff resources to use.

QSX can be deployed behind a corporate firewall, documents can be encrypted on QSX to QSX calls, and the content remains secure on the presenter’s PC.
QSX supports up to 15 participants (5 QSX and 10 web participants) inside and outside of a corporate network and through voice conference bridges or PBX’s.
QSX is a plug-and-play appliance, with a one-time set up that can be done in less than 30 minutes. QSX is manageable remotely through Polycom Global Management System and system configuration is done through a simple web interface.

Polycom QSX currently works with all SoundStation conference phones, except the SoundStation IP or SoundStation2W models. Pricing starts at $1,299 (US).

Network Systems: ReadiConvene, ReadiManager, and ReadiRecorder
Polycom also introduced the ReadiConvene rich media conferencing platform, which includes an integrated suite of essential conference scheduling and management applications required by today’s IP-based networks.

Polycom makes it easy for customers to purchase, deploy and manage rich media conferencing applications – including voice, video, data and Web collaboration - with ReadiConvene, an extension of the Polycom MGC product line. In addition to a full suite of on-demand conferencing applications, ReadiConvene offers powerful new embedded services including conference scheduling and conference network management, advanced gatekeeper, and device management, all on a single integrated platform.

This same suite of scheduling and management applications is also available on Polycom ReadiManager SE200 - a standalone appliance-based platform that is part of the Polycom Readi-series suite of conferencing products. The products give customers flexibility when choosing network deployment options.

Advanced features such as realtime remote system monitoring and reporting, auto-discovery and registration of endpoints, global directory services and unified dial plans, least-cost routing, automated device and bandwidth management, and advanced scheduling tools are all available with ReadiConvene.

ReadiRecorder provides simple one-touch commands to initiate conference recording, as well as the ability to customize record and playback commands via DTMF and IVR. Retrieval of recorded conferences is easy, with a customizable web portal that allows users to log in and download the stored conferences over the web, and then playback via standard desktop media players.

Conference Room Video Solutions
Polycom is also launching a new, extended range of Conference Room Solutions that combine high-resolution flat-panel displays with unique, flexible, and secure cart configurations that are easily transferable for small- to medium-size conference centers. The Polycom Conference Room Solutions are available in multiple configurations, including standalone carts and carts paired with single or dual LCD and plasma displays.

Delivering maximum flexibility for Polycom partners and customers, any of the Conference Room Solutions can be paired with any VSX system within the Polycom product line. The Conference Room Solutions include:

Polycom Media Center, available separately or combined with one or two 32in. TFT LCD displays or 42in. plasma displays
Polycom Media Cart, available separately or combined with one or two 32” TFT LCD displays
Polycom Wall-mounted LCDs, available with one or two 32in. TFT LCD displays and Polycom VSX camera shelf
Polycom Video Cart, available separately or combined with 32in. CRT display

In addition to these product introductions, Polycom will show a sampling of the company’s extensive range of voice and video solutions, including the Vortex and VSX lines of installed voice and videoconferencing products.
