Gepco International introduced the new Component Video and Cat-5E Hybrid cable at NSCA 2006.The Component Video and Cat-5E Hybrid cable is intended for commercial AV applications that require the distribution of high-resolution component video with Cat-5E for IP-addressable devices or displays. The coaxial elements of the Component Video and Cat-5E Hybrid cable are Gepco’s 23-gage solid miniature HDTV coax, which features low attenuation, 3GHz bandwidth, gas-injected dielectric, and a dual foil and braid shield. Additionally, each coaxial element is 100 percent swept test to meet or exceed SMPTE 292M and 259M specifications.
The Category 5E four-pair element has a 350MHz bandwidth and features electrical specifications that exceed TIA/EIA 568-B.2 requirements and is ETL verified. Gepco’s Component Video and Cat-5E Hybrid cable has a flexible and UL-rated Type CM GEP-FLEX outer jacket that is both flexible and suitable for permanent installation. In addition to the CM-rated version, a plenum version is also available.
“The rapid growth and increasing complexity of commercial A/V infrastructure requires new solutions,” says Scott Fehl, Gepco’s products development manager. “With the Component Video and Cat-5E Hybrid cable, Gepco achieves a solution to both high-resolution component video distribution and the increasing number of IP addressable devices.”
