Launching into a new era, McCauley Sound is releasing the iDesign series of powered, modular installation loudspeakers at the InfoComm 2006 show in Orlando, Florida. This launch represent’s McCauley Sound’s first ever entry into the powered loudspeaker market.
The iDesign series are 14 compact installation loudspeaker modules which can be ordered with or without their integrated power and processing unitoffering the designer the unit-by-unit choice of whether to deploy loudspeakers using an integrated power solution or conventional rack mount power and processing configuration.
Sound designers can deploy iDesign modules as standalone units or easily build complex system arrays in two-way, three-way, and four-way configurations. iDesign modules are offered across a wide range of coverage patterns, with driver complements scaling from 8in. to 15in. cone drivers. By means of five different, interchangeable, rotatable waveguides, installers can orient systems to the horizontal or the vertical, and combine patterns in arrays to build perfect coverage zones. Choices rotatable 60x40, 60x60, 60x120, 90x60, and 90x90 waveguides will be available in the initial offering.
“iDesign is choice,” says Jason Farris, vice president of sales & marketing. “This product family offers installers more choice about configuration than any product to precede it. Every module is available with or without integrated power and processing; while every waveguide is rotatable and arrayable, allowing the designer to manage very specific beam-widths in both single systems and in larger arrays. Each module was personally voiced by Tom McCauley to create a ubiquitous, family-wide tonality regardless of the size or scope of the installation. iDesign offers choice; creative freedom to build idealized audio zones; not limitations.”
iDesign modules also offer a wide range of options with regard to mounting and rigging; Omni-mount-style taps are integrated into the tops and sides of every module to accept a wide range of mounting hardware. In addition, 14 reinforced eyebolt pick points are built in as standard hardware in each unit to facilitate hangs. Furthermore, a robust range of u-brackets, multi-module array frames, and twin-axis swivel brackets have been specifically developed for iDesign modules to further support a nearly limitless range of mounting styles and configurations.
The iDesign integrated power and processing unit is based on the industry leading IcePower architecture. IcePower is a state of the art class-D amplification solution developed for professional audio applications. iDesign modules each also feature an integrated ID.P31 signal processing unit fully integrated power supplies. Modules are available in six configurations to suit each loudspeaker application in the iDesign line.
The ID.P31 integrated signal processing solution is entirely self-contained within each iDesign power module. The ID.P31 processor manages one input and can provide up to three outputs of signal, allowing it to manage two-way, three-way, and mono configurations. Loudspeaker management circuitry is present in each module to prevent system damage in the event of driver failures or short-circuits. Every unit is specifically programmed at the factory with DSP setting to optimize the loudspeakers performance in any given application.
