VertigoXmedia announced the launch of a new version of its Xpresenter system that will be on display at GVExpo 2005, Nov. 30 to Dec. 1, in Washington D.C. An affordable, standalone system that transforms Microsoft PowerPoint presentations into high-end, broadcast-quality video productions, Xpresenter now includes a number of upgrades that enhance the look and feel of the user interface and make the system even easier to use.
"Our Xpresenter system has always been an easy tool to use for producing broadcast-quality presentations and digital signage that feature TV-like graphics, animations, and video in multiple formats. But now, thanks to a number of enhancements including a brand-new user interface, our latest version makes production of sophisticated audio-visual presentations a more streamlined process from start to finish," says David Wilkins, CEO of VertigoXmedia.
Government Video magazine awarded the Xpresenter system a Government Video Salute award at NAB 2004. Since then, Vertigo has developed an improved user interface for version 1.5, with a sleek, integrated PowerPoint toolbar that includes features designed to optimize the authoring workflow. With version 1.5, users can also manage data more easily. A new wizard allows users to link to RSS data feeds and use them to automatically update PowerPoint slide elements, such as the latest sports scores or flight arrival times. Increased flexibility for using data from databases, Excel spreadsheets, and text files is created with data preview capabilities and simple point-and-click linking to sources. An archiving wizard makes it easier than ever to share complete multimedia projects between users.
The new Xpresenter also has improved rendering performance for playback of multiple realtime clips in virtually any format, including MPEG, AVI, QuickTime, and Windows Media. With enhanced support for streaming video, users can utilize any Windows media-streaming URL for display in a video window or even as a slide background. Multi-layer scene authoring enables users to load and manage content on multiple independent layers.
Typical applications for Xpresenter include corporate communications, info channels, transportation schedules, retail displays, and real estate listings.
