Escient acquires avACTIVE

Escient has acquired avACTIVE, a developer of PC/TV convergence technologies. Escient's acquisition of avACTIVE follows the company's acquisition of StarMatix, Los Gatos, CA. Now known as the Escient Digital Storage group, StarMatix is managed by Chris Stevens. With the avACTIVE transaction, Escient acquired the technology related to avACTIVE's set-top box that eliminates the need for multiple home entertainment devices.
