CEDIA Can Help You Reach

Resolve to reach out to new industry partners this year. Connecting with architects, builders, and interior designers can be a great way to open the doors to new business. One way to reach this market is to offer an opportunity to learn about home technology while also earning continuing education credit. CEDIA’s Registered Outreach Instructor (ROI) program enables CEDIA members to present relevant and timely education to industry partners within their geographic regions.

To become an ROI, you must be a CEDIA member and you must pass the Train the Trainer course. The next ROI Train the Trainer class will take place Friday, March 25, 2011, at the Lutron Experience Center in Irvine, Calif.

CEDIA ROI Kurt Korfhage of Integration Unlimited praises the program as “one of the best tools that a CEDIA member can invest in to educate their partners while gaining their trust and their business. It raises the level of respect we get as an industry because they will realize that we are genuine, knowledgeable resources.”

Becoming an ROI also provides these advantages:

  • Opportunity to write articles in leading CEDIA and partner publications
  • Crosspoint resources
  • Specialized ROI marketing tools
  • Advertisement via print publications, electronic ads, and the CEDIA website
  • E-blasts to industry partners
  • Consideration to present at regional speaking events
  • Quarterly newsletter
  • Special promotions on ROI and CEDIA merchandise

CEDIA is constantly revising and developing courseware for this program with the help of subject matter experts and CEDIA staff. Currently CEDIA is an approved provider of continuing education for eight industry groups, including The American Institute of Architects, The American Society of Interior Designers, and The National Association of Home Builders.

CEDIA has announced it will participate as a sponsor forHollywood Hi-Tech, an upcoming show on the DIY Network that will show sophisticated technology installations in celebrity homes. CEDIA will support the show and will work closely with its host to help illustrate the benefits of working with a professional electronic systems contractor.

The series will show viewers the latest and greatest technologies integrated into innovative custom installations. The show will follow lifestyle-technology expert Janna Robinson as she gives celebrities’ homes the ultimate technology makeover. Leading CEDIA-member manufacturers are involved with the show, and CEDIA-member electronic systems contractor Robert’s Home AV is signed on to participate in the first five episodes.

CEDIA’s Electronic Lifestyles Finder Service will be featured on the show’s website, making it easy for homeowners and electronic systems professionals to find qualified CEDIA members in their area.

Hollywood Hi-Tech is the very first time that high-end custom installation has been featured in a weekly TV series, and CEDIA has done an amazing job at supporting our show,” says host Janna Robinson. “They are helping us spread the word about the series, providing the same kind of solid support that they have given the custom install industry for years.”

Hollywood Hi-Tech will feature such celebrities as Khloe Kardashian, Lamar Odom, Jeremy Piven, and Josh Duhamel. The celebrities themselves will be involved throughout the makeover process, from the initial consultation to the unveiling of the finished room. The series will premiere in June 2011.
