Enabling contractors to serve their customers with more versatile, higher-performance presentation, and collaboration technologies, Hitachi Software introduced its FX-82W interactive whiteboard. Featuring an 82in. widescreen image area, the FX-82W sets a new benchmark in product feature set and functionality for interactive presentation technologies in classrooms and larger meeting rooms.

“The increasing availability of widescreen content in a variety of applications from corporate to education markets has led us to develop the FX-82W,” says Ted Wakabayashi, president, Hitachi Software America. “The FX-82W advances the state of the art of interactive whiteboard technology while at the same time providing contractors with new benchmarks in performance value.”

The new 82in. screen size with 16:9 display aspect ratio makes the FX-82W suitable for installation in classrooms and large meeting rooms. Ten customizable function buttons enable the use of StarBoard Software without the use of onscreen menus, creating a user-friendly presentation. The newly designed, field-replaceable sensor makes the FX-82W easier to maintain than touch-sensitive boards and provides strong tolerance against ‘noise’ such as motion sensors. The FX-82W is available in both wired (USB) and wireless Bluetooth configurations, and it offers seamless integration with new or existing projectors and other equipment.

Hitachi Software’s easy-to-master StarBoard Software Release 6.31 features screen/voice recording functionality that enables StarBoard sessions to be recorded during classes or meetings for later playback. A new Hyperlink feature allows users to embed .wav movie files in StarBoard presentations, and other new features make importing text significantly easier. The wireless two-button pen device functions as a mouse or as a pen to annotate and edit documents, which can be saved as editable screen shots in StarBoard software or as Windows software applications.

The StarBoard BT-1 Bluetooth Freedom Tablet is a lightweight, handheld, pen-operated panel that enables wireless remote operation of the FX-82W, allowing educators, trainers, and presenters a mobile alternative for system control and the freedom to move about the room while making presentations. Up to four BT-1 Tablets can be connected to each StarBoard system and passed around the room, further improving collaboration between presenters and the audience.

Shipping immediately, the Hitachi Software FX-82W interactive whiteboard is bundled with the new Hitachi StarBoard Software Release 6.31 and wall-mounting brackets. MSRP ranges from $1,499 for wired to $1,699 for wireless depending on model configuration.
