Started in 2008 in conjunction with FullDome Summit, IMERSA is a young and growing organization promoting large-scale immersive environments in planetariums, schools, museums, cinemas, and attractions. IMERSA’s core leadership body includes David Beining, founder of DomeFest, a film festival devoted to the creation of large-format media, and associated director of Immersive Media at ArtsLab at the University of New Mexico; Ed Lantz, president of Visual Bandwidth—a network of consultants in immersive production, distribution, and exhibition—and Vortex Immersion Media—a full-service company offering content production, design and project management, architectural consulting, and web products in the immersive field; David McConville, director of The Elumenati, a full-service design and engineering firm specializing in the creation and deployment of immersive environments; Dan Neafus, operations manager of Gates Planetarium at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science; and Ryan Wyatt, director of the Morrison Planetarium at the California Academy of Sciences and chair of the IPS FullDome Committee.
