A compact Zandar Predator HD8 MultiViewer configured to display eight fixed images using DualQuad mode is installed inside the YES HD outside broadcast vehicle for YES Productions based in New Orleans.

In a system designed and integrated by Beck Associates, the 53ft. expandable HD trailer and mobile truck provides standard and high-definition production services for a mix of sports, concerts, and special events. The extensive client base of YES Productions includes Fox Studios and Cox Sports, a cable network serving the region of the South Eastern States.

Located at the heart of YES HD, the Zandar Predator HD8 unit drives a 37in. display device centered in front of a production switcher area. It is integrated with an EVS software system that moves and flies-in graphics from a range of SD and HD sources including the Grass Valley Kalypso HD production system and a separate router. A TSL 100 tally and UMD system and Image Video software is integrated and supported by the Predator HD8 unit.

John Kruman, broadcast systems engineer at Beck Associates outlines that a major factor in choosing the equipment was the DualQuad mode functionality. “The Zandar unit was the only product in the market that could produce eight fixed screens on the monitor. This DualQuad mode offers the operators two quad MultiViewers within a single system. It’s designed for continued use and is a fixed configuration where no adjustments or control is needed. Operators are not just presented with video and effects using the Predator HD8, but also alarms and audio meters. The labeling of each source is also very easy for operators and the images produced are of an outstanding clarity and resolution. At the end of the day, Zandar was the most cost-effective option for the needs of YES Productions.”

“Many sports organizations that we work with have the need for SD and HD production and we use the best quality equipment available in the market. The compact design of the Zandar Unit combined its powerful feature set is ideal for our use to display moving graphics and effects,” says Jim Moriarty, vice president and general Manager for YES Productions.

“Sporting events produced by YES Productions will be broadcast to billions of viewers across the US and the world. We’re justifiably proud of being selected by Beck Associates and involved with such a successful and sophisticated operation,” says Deirdre Smith at Zandar Technologies. “Our Predator HD MultiViewers are increasingly being used in the International outside broadcast market that is making the switch from SD to HD broadcast, and where quality and flexibility are paramount.”
