Loudspeaker manufacturer ElectroVoice recently unveiled the new EVid C12.2 ceiling speaker system. The C12.2 is a two-way loudspeaker installed in a durable sealed-enclosure assembly with a 12in. low-frequency cone, high-temperature voice-coil assembly and a coaxially mounted wide-dispersion dome radiator tweeter. The exceptional efficiency and high power handling of the C12.2 provide ample power to cover high-ceiling, large, open environments such as convention centers, gymnasiums, shopping centers, warehouses, hotels, and factories.
The C12.2 uses a dual-section crossover network, centered at 2,500Hz, that provides 12dB/octave of attenuation for each element outside its operating range. Clear, intelligible speech and fine music reproduction are ensured by the ported enclosure and extended-frequency response. The loudspeaker's enclosure is a circular zinc plated steel assembly mated to a plastic bezel, and features a removable, powder-coated steel grille.
The entire system is designed for flush mounting in an enclosed ceiling or free-air hung in an open environment such as a gymnasium. A pendant mounting system is provided for hanging in free air, and tabs are featured on the bezel for flush mounting in drop-style or sheetrock ceilings.
The speaker is equipped with an integral 60W 70V/100V transformer with a front-mounted switch to easily select the proper wattage settings. The system is equipped with a four-pin phoenix-style connector, which enables easy pass-through wiring of up to 12-gauge wire. This allows for quick and secure hookups and long-term reliable operation. The EVid C12.2 is the ideal loudspeaker when a high-efficiency, wide-dispersion, easily mounted, full-range loudspeaker is required for a wide range of ceiling-mounted applications.
