KEF Audio Debuts New Loudspeaker Series

British loudspeaker manufacturer KEF announced the upcoming release of a complete range of high-performance speakers designed specifically for foreground music and music/paging applications.
“The new Ci line has been specifically designed for the practical realities of architectural installation in commercial applications,” says Alec Chanin, president of KEF America. “Coupled with a simple mounting system to ease the installation process, KEF’s Ci Commercial Series speakers set new standards of audio integrity in public spaces.”
With back-cans, 70V/100V multitap transformers for distributed line systems, UL2043 safety approval for use in air-handling spaces and UL1480-5 for fire-protection signaling systems, all new KEF Ci Commercial Speakers meet the highest specification requirements for commercial interior use.
The new Ci Commercial Series comprises the following models:
Ci110FCT in-ceiling speaker
A full-bandwidth speaker with an ultra-low distortion motor driving a rigid 4in.cone, the Ci110FCT generates a spacious, lucid, and intricately detailed soundfield. Timbre-matched to the rest of the range, it’s suitable for all internal in-ceiling applications. The unusually low-profile back can makes the Ci110FCT ideal for fitting into restricted ceiling cavities. KEF’s ingeniously simple mounting system makes it exceptionally easy to install. The Ci110FCT is supplied with a C-ring mounting bracket and tile hanger for use in suspended ceilings. Ci110FCT in-seiling speakers have an MSRP of $199.99 each.
Ci115QCT in-ceiling speaker
Incorporating the latest incarnation of KEF’s signature technology, the patented Uni-Q “point-source” driver configuration, the Ci115QCT disperses the soundfield more evenly and over a far wider area than is possible with conventional speakers. This provides far greater freedom of positioning, solving otherwise difficult speaker placement problems. The compact 4.5in. Uni-Q array produces an expansive, accurate and sumptuously detailed sound image out of all proportion to its modest size. The bezels and grilles can be finished to blend unobtrusively with the décor. Incorporates KEF’s ingeniously simple mounting system and supplied with accessories for suspended ceiling applications. Ci160QCT in-ceiling speaker
The Ci160QCT is built around the latest incarnation of KEF’s patented 6.5in. Uni-Q driver array. The Ci160QCT is ideal for applications where the finest sound quality is desired and as with the Ci115QCT, it disperses the soundfield more evenly and over a far wider area than is possible with conventional speakers. The bezels and grilles can be finished to blend unobtrusively with the décor. Incorporates KEF’s ingeniously simple mounting system and supplied with accessories for suspended ceiling applications. Ci160QCT in-ceiling speakers have an MSRP of $399.99 each.
Ci160ST in-ceiling subwoofer
Reproducing lower frequencies with confident accuracy is critical for achieving a satisfyingly full-bodied sound in public spaces, and with the dedicated long-throw 6.5in. bass driver from KEF’s renowned iQ range, the Ci160ST in-ceiling subwoofer delivers gloriously extended, articulate, and distortion-free bass. The tonal match is perfect with the rest of the new Ci Commercial Series. As with all other speakers in the Ci Commercial Series, the bezels and grilles can be finished to blend unobtrusively with the décor. Ci600QAW outdoor speaker
Created for exterior applications, the new Ci600QAW is the only full range all-weather loudspeaker with the performance advantages of KEF’s patented Uni-Q technology. The latest generation Uni-Q driver array disperses the soundfield more evenly, and over a far wider area than conventional speakers, giving the system designer far greater latitude in speaker positioning. Incorporating weather-resistant drivers and terminals and with an integral swiveling mounting bracket, the Ci600QAW can be relied on to deliver superb sound quality in virtually any outdoor environment—even in the most demanding applications, such as ocean-going vessels.
