The Atlona extender falls toward the lower end of the price range when compared to the rest of the field. The box was nice and neatly packaged with the parts easy to identify. The maximum distance that we were able to obtain a reliable picture was 375ft., but the extender did link and show intermittent signal at 400ft. If the cable was uncoiled, it is highly likely that it would work better at 400ft. The unit had no problem supporting all of the resolutions that we tested from 800x600 up to 1920x1080 and the 1080p resolutions output by the Blu-ray. It also supports bi-directional IR even though that was not tested. The case has flanges that extend to the side to allow easy mounting on a wall or under a table. The labeling on the individual units was extremely similar, which made it difficult to distinguish which one was the TX and which one was the RX. There was a model number that ended in “T” for the transmitter and one that ended in “S” for the receiver (sender) printed on the top of the units along with “IN” vs. “OUT” for the RJ-45 and HDMI connectors.
