Companies Debut New Products for CEDIA Expo 2008

As the industry gears up for CEDIA Expo 2008, manufacturers are getting an early jump on new product announcements before the crush hits Denver later this week. Look for IP-based products, wireless products, mounting solutions, and iPod/iPhone-ready gear to have a major presence at the show. Here’s a peek at what a few manufacturers have up their sleeves.

As the industry gears up for CEDIA Expo 2008, manufacturers are getting an early jump on new product announcements before the crush hits Denver later this week. Look for IP-based products, wireless products, mounting solutions, and iPod/iPhone-ready gear to have a major presence at the show. Here’s a peek at what a few manufacturers have up their sleeves.

RTI

New RTI two-way color interfaces give users feedback including current song selections, security status, and HVAC and lighting settings when used with the Z-24 ZigBee transceiver module. Web-based templates provide the end user with access to current and forecasted weather conditions and more.

Yamaha RX-Z7

Yamaha

The Yamaha RX-Z7 AV receiver comes loaded—with HD Radio, iTunes tagging, internet radio from Rhapsody and Sirius, PC streaming and dual XM/Sirius inputs. It can be controlled from a networked PC’s web browser. The unit packs four HDMI inputs and is compatible with DLNA and Windows Vista.

Cables to Go

Cables to Go is previewing its Wireless VGA solution for a wireless connection to projectors and displays. The system claims a reliable signal to 25ft.

Atlantic Technology

New Atlantic Technology IP-Ready loudspeakers are compatible with the NetStreams StreamNet whole-house IP AV distribution technology. The NetStreams system produces a synchronized digital signal from the source that provides a pure signal to speaker’s voicecoil.

Sherwood

Add Sherwood to the long list of LCD TV vendors. The company will unveil 32in. and 42in. models along with a pair of Blu-ray players.

JBL

JBL premieres its WEM-1 Wireless Expansion Module that makes any loudspeaker wireless. In addition, it will show the JBL ES250PW and ES150PW wireless subwoofers.

Chief Manufacturing

Three new mount series debut at CEDIA including the Fusion series that’s said to solve the most common installation problems, including stud location and perfect leveling. The Chief Manufacturing Thinstall series is designed for new, thinner TVs. The Cinematic series features new automated tilt mounts. Power protection solutions will also be shown in the booth.

Black & Decker

Black & Decker is previewing a residential electronic-access control solution. The motorized electronic locks can be locked and unlocked remotely without human interaction.

Silicon Image

A new Silicon Image chip for the DTV market eliminates switching delays between an HDTV and external source devices. InstaPort technology adds intelligence to smart devices to reduce delays by accelerating and standardizing port-switching times outside of traditional cable/satellite set-top boxes.

Niles Audio

The Niles Audio IM-NET Network Audio Integration Module is a source-integration card that allows access and simplified control of networked PC and Mac-based digital music files and online music subscription services. IM-NET automatically configures and plays digital content found on networked DLNA-compliant devices, including NAS drives.
