The Marantz SR8002 7.1-channel audio/video receiver is the flagship of the Marantz line. The feature array includes advanced HDMI 1.3 repeating capability, HD Radio, THX Select2 processing, THX Neural Surround, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, and dts HD Master Audio. Power output is 125W per channel. Marantz tapped Audyssey for MultiEQ room correction circuitry and calibration technology. To preserve audio integrity, Marantz used a toroidal power transformer and copper chassis.

The receiver has four HDMI 1.3 inputs and two HDMI 1.3 outputs. HDMI 1.3a repeating capability is said to eliminate signal loss and allow the receiver to repeat 1080p video signals from HDMI input to HDMI output as well as to decode audio signals via HDMI. The SR8002 upconverts composite, S-Video and component video signals to HDMI and includes a 480i /480p converter with time-based correction. There are two assignable dual component outputs and two DC trigger outputs. The three-zone receiver also packs XM HD.
