Barco recently announced it was implementing JVC’s D-ILA (Digital Direct Drive Image Light Amplifier) technology in a new projector, the LX-5. Barco’s LX-5 was showcased at Integrated Systems Europe in Amsterdam at the end of January 2008.
The LX-5 uses JVC’s proprietary version of liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) display technology to achieve up to 4,500 lumens and a high contrast ratio of 10,000:1. Suited to high-end boardrooms that need to display large quantities of information at the same time, Barco’s LX-5 can display up to four WUXGA (1920 x 1200-pixel) images.
“The use of JVC’s D-ILA technology enables the LX-5 to have a 10-megapixel resolution and unrivaled color accuracy,” said Peter De Meerleer, director of product management at Barco. “This allows true, natural black levels and an enhanced color gradience.”
