Christie Debuts New 3-Chip DLP Projectors

Christie this week introduced a new line of projection products built on a dual-lamp, mercury platform, rather than xenon. The new Christie M Series is a family of six 3-chip DLP projectors that range from 5,000 ANSI lumens (dual lamp, 200W) to 9,500 ANSI lumens (dual lamp, 350W) and include two resolutions, SX+ (1400 x 1050) and HD (1920 x 1080).
At the highest brightness level, the M Series projector draws a maximum power of 1320W, the company said, and at only 55 pounds, the projectors are lighter and more affordable to operate and maintain with dual lamps, energy-saving feature settings, and a filter-free, dust-sealed engine design.
This M Series offers provides an expanded suite of high-quality lenses that includes two new options – a short zoom (1.25-1.6:1 SX+ / 1.16-1.49:1 HD) and a long zoom (7.5-11.2:1 SX+ / 6.9-10.4:1 HD) – all with true Intelligent Lens System (ILS) capabilities. The ILS automatically recognizes and calibrates a lens when it is installed. The encoder-based system ensures repeatable recall of all lens offset, zoom and focus positions, according to company officials.
“In addition to the new Intelligent Lens System, we’ve added embedded warp capabilities, optical color space expansion, an easy-to-use web interface, high-end electronics, dynamic iris, multi-window processing, automatic shut-off, and more,” said George Tsintzouras, senior product manager for business products at Christie.
Christie’s latest M Series includes: the Christie DS+6K-M at 5,000 ANSI lumens; the Christie HD6K-M at 5,100 ANSI; the Christie DS+10K-M at 9,300 ANSI; the Christie HD10K-M at 9,500 ANSI; and two Christie Roadster models with stacking and rigging included.
All HD models in the series come standard with a motorized Yellow Notch Filter for improved reproduction of skin tones, richer color depth, and more natural looking images for video display.
Tsintzouras told PRO AV the company was taking order and would ship systems in four to six weeks.
