Clear-Com Communication Systems recently acquired Talkdynamics Technologies’ IV-Core technology, which powers voice communication solutions for pro-grade live production communication over IP networks. The strategic move led Clear-Com to established Clear-Com Research, a Montreal-based research and development facility comprised of Talkdynamics’ team of engineers and development staff.

Clear-Com plans to embed IV-Core technologies, which include Instant Voice Network (IV-N) and Instant Voice Router (IV-Router), into its traditional and next-generation intercom systems, company officials said. This will provide the intercoms with intelligent signal routing, low-latency IP audio, presence awareness, and other advanced features.

“The acquisition of this breakthrough technology and the extremely talented engineering and business development team that created it will establish a new standard for flexible, accessible, and dynamic intercom communication,” “said Matt Danilowicz, managing director of Clear-Com, in a statement.

The company said the IV-Core suite of technologies is a product of a four-year research and development effort. Designed to deliver secure, low-latency distributed multiconferencing and group communication capabilities, the technology reportedly achieves ultra-wideband audio quality at low bandwidths. IV-Core also overcomes the performance variation of IP networks, including the Internet, via a bespoke packet-loss recovery algorithm combined with proprietary Instant Voice Routing algorithms, according to company officials. The technologies also provide AES 128-bit encryption for protecting privacy of transmission.

IV-Core’s development was led by Talkdynamics president Stephane Menard, who joins Clear-Com as director of IP development. The Talkdynamics technical team will remain in the Montreal office, now incorporated as Clear-Com Research. Along with Clear-Com’s Cambridge research and development team, Clear-Com Research will focus on advancing Clear-Com’s voice communication solution offerings with the IV-Core technology.
