Digital View has introduced the new ViewStream 400, a digital video player designed for HD LCD and plasma displays in digital signage applications. Other out-of-home applications include point-of-purchase (POP) messaging and promotions, product demonstration videos, digital menu boards, customer information kiosks, employee training, and museum information displays, according to company officials.

The ViewStream 400 can be used as a stand-alone player without network connectivity, updating content via a USB port and memory stick. Standard configuration allows the device to store more than 50 hours of content on its SATA hard drive, while content scheduling and play-list management are handled through DV Studio Plus software, which is included.

Supporting MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and MPEG-4 video in standard or high definition, as well as MP3 audio and JPEG formats, the ViewStream 400 is compact and weighs only 2.6 lbs. Video output happens through the ARGB port, while audio output is via a 3.5 mm stereo jack.

An OEM version of the ViewStream 400, the RP-400, will be available to OEM clients who require a purpose-built, networkable digital media player. The ViewStream 400 is available directly from Digital View and the company’s distribution network for a list price of $375.
