Extron Electronics introduced the MGP 464 HD-SDI as the newest model in the company’s family of four-window, multigraphics processors. The MGP 464 HD-SDI offers two HD-SDI inputs and two DVI inputs, as well as analog RGBHV input capability.

According to the company, the inclusion of HD-SDI inputs allows for easy integration of professional video equipment, visualization processors, and medical imaging devices equipped with HD-SDI high-definition digital video outputs. The new processor was designed for use in command and control, network operations centers, videoconferencing, medical facilities, courtrooms, boardrooms, and other sophisticated AV environments where critical, high-quality multiwindow displays are required.

“HD-SDI is becoming more common as a high data rate transport of choice for AV presentation and imaging products,” said Lee Dodson, vice president of marketing at Extron, in a statement. “The MGP 464 HD-SDI provides high-performance video scaling and multiwindow processing capabilities to enable multi-image display of these high resolution digital video sources.”

With the addition of the HD-SDI model, the MGP 464 now comes in three version: the MGP 464 base model with four RGBHV inputs, the MGP 464 DI with an additional four DVI inputs, and the MGP 464 HD-SDI with two DVI and two HD-SDI inputs. All versions of the MGP 464 feature high-resolution analog RGBHV inputs and 15 virtual inputs for standard definition video sources. All three models accept up to 19 input sources and feature a 19×4 input matrix switcher that allows any source to be displayed in any or all four windows. Simultaneous analog and DVI outputs are provided for RGB up to 1600×1200 or HDTV 1080p/60.

In addition to features that help customize PIP presentations, the models can incorporate static or full-motion images as backgrounds. The MGP 464 includes Extron’s Graphic Still Store, which enables live-screen captures or images uploaded from a PC to be stored for use as presentation background images. Also, video from a DVI source can serve as the background to any PIP presentation.
