Loudspeakers

SoundTube Entertainment offers a new line of CM – EZ loudspeakers to complement its in-ceiling-mount product line. Available in 4-, 6- and 8-inch sizes, these loudspeakers are designed for easy installation in ceiling applications. Mounting material thicknesses, ranging from 0.25 inches to 1.75 inches, may be accommodated by the company's proprietary fixed-wing, constant-tension mounting system. Sealed can enclosures extend loudspeaker frequency range while delivering high-quality sound. CobraNet interface cards

Soundcraft has expanded the connectivity options for its Vi Series (Vi6, Vi4) of digital live sound consoles with the introduction of a CobraNet interface card. The product allows up to 32 channels of input or output signals (or a combination of both) to be received by or sent from the console onto a CobraNet network. By default, the card is configured for 32 outputs. This strengthens the position of a Vi Series console within a Harman HiQnet system, allowing audio and control to be integrated into the desk. Transmitters

Lectrosonics is unveiling the UM450, a new Digital Hybrid Wireless belt-pack transmitter with a current-servo input and 250mW RF output for exceptional range and resistance to interference, as well as the UM400a, a new version of its most popular transmitter. The new input circuitry enables a wider range of microphone sensitivities and provides a straightforward microphone wiring method. In the revised SM Series, including the SMa 100mW transmitter, SMDa dual-battery unit, and SMQa 250mW transmitter, a variable high-pass filter has been added with control via front panel menus. A 3 dB down point is selectable between 35 Hz and 150 Hz, allowing the transmitters to be optimized for full range audio or voice transmission. In addition, to keep the housing free of moisture, which results from expansion and contraction of the air inside the unit due to rapid temperature changes, all transmitters in the SM Series now will include a Gore-Tex pressure-equalizing membrane. LCD projector

The CPX5 3LCD projector from Hitachi America features a brightness of 2,500 ANSI lumens at a weight of 3.9 pounds. The CPX5 offers a wide-angle lens, allowing presenters to place the projector close to the screen to avoid obstruction of the image. In addition, the unit contains a USB reader, enabling PC-less presentation functionality. Providing XGA resolution, a contrast ratio of 500:1 and a low 29 dB of fan noise in whisper mode, the projector offers proprietary features, including My Screen, My Memory, and My Button. Protocol translator and controller

Kramer Electronics introduces the FC-5 Protocol Translator and Controller, which is designed to make an RS-232-controlled machine compatible with other RS-232-based protocols. The unit comes pre-configured with two serial translation tables: a generic serial switcher control protocol to the company's Protocol 2000, and Sierra Video Systems' serial protocol to Kramer's Protocol 2000. A PC-based software program is included that will allow the building of translation tables for the FC-5. The product can be programmed to work with up to four translation tables, each with up to 256 commands. It also incorporates RS-232 COM ports and features two relay connections for centralized control of room functions. Touted by the company as the industry's first camera controller with widescreen video preview, the next-generation NXP-PLV Modero PosiTrack Pilot Camera Controller from AMX features Ethernet connectivity and a 7-inch Modero Widescreen Touchpanel. Using the graphical interface, the operator can select cameras, visually track and change their movement, store and recall presets, and adjust each camera's settings. The controller also includes a proportional pan/tilt/zoom joystick and controls for focus, iris, and speed. Digital video processor

The DVPHD-PRO high-definition digital video processor from Crestron Electronics accepts up to eight source signals and simultaneously displays them in eight scalable video windows. Featuring input and output resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 for RGB and DVI signals, and supporting 1080i and 1080p HDTV, the unit handles HDMI with external adapters. Available in several models, including multiple output versions for video wall applications, the processor does not require an external control system for configuration or operation. Daily operation and system setup can be achieved directly from the front panel LCD or using built-in Web pages displayed on a computer. Flat-panel displays

Displaying a variety of plasma displays, LCD monitors, and LCD HDTV systems, LG Electronics is showcasing units ranging from 17 to 55 inches. The M10 series offers IP network capability, a narrow and slim bezel (29mm) for a 4x4 matrix video wall, as well as portrait and landscape capabilities, allowing for standalone and wall applications. In addition, the company's Flatron M4210C-BA delivers superior resolution with WXGA technology, high brightness (450 cd/m2) and contrast ratio (1600:1) and wide-viewing angles with S-IPS technology. The 42PX8DC plasma with MPEG-4 H.264 decoding technology features Clear Filter with XCC to limit screen reflection in brightly lit rooms, eliminate haze, and reduce double imaging. Featuring full duplex audio, eight hours of talk time, and a range of 20 meters (66 feet), the new xTag microphone is ideal for VoIP, podcasting, and voice lift (sound reinforcement) for presenters and recording applications. The xTag Microphone System consists of a base station, two-way audio (full duplex) xTag microphone, an earbud, a lanyard, plus a USB cable for interconnection to a computer. Flat-panel digital kiosks

Two new flat-panel digital kiosks, the FDPK01 and FPDK02, are available from Bretford. Featuring keyboard trays that fold up and out of the way when not in use, both models allow easy access to data by attaching directly to the wall at walk-up height. However, they also can be mounted lower on the wall for wheelchair access. Additionally, the monitor and keyboard tray both mount independently on the track. The FPDK01 includes a 31.5-inch aluminum alloy wall track, while the FPDT02 includes two 31.5-inch wall tracks – one to support the CPU holder (measuring 63 inches in total height). Loudspeakers

Expanding its FreeSpace line, Boseintroduces the DS 100SE surface-mount and DS 100F flush-mount loudspeakers. On the DS 100SE model, two Twiddler drivers in a proprietary Articulated Array loudspeaker design can be rotated to maintain a side (180 degree) dispersion pattern whether the unit is mounted horizontally or vertically. This unit can be mounted on walls at heights up to 30 feet. A thumbwheel enables tap settings to be adjusted before, during, or after installation. The DS 100F can be flush- or pendant-mounted in ceilings up to 30 feet high. In-ceiling loudspeaker

Tannoy North America recently added the CMS801 DC to its range of in-ceiling speakers. Incorporating a 200mm Tannoy Dual Concentric point source, constant directivity drive unit, the CMS801 DC offers high-power handling (180 watts program/360 watts peak) and wide dispersion. The point source driver system generates a spherical wave front unaffected by energy loss at the crossover frequency in either vertical or horizontal planes. Input and output modules

The AV-M8 Mic Input Module and AV-P2 Output Module from Aviom will be on display. Ideal for distributing audio in boardrooms and conference rooms, the AV-M8 uses A-Net audio transport protocol, converting eight analog audio channels to a digital stream and providing eight mic-level inputs. The Senteo interactive response system from Smart Technologies includes a handheld device for each student in a classroom and a central receiver that allows teachers to send information to each device and receive information back from each student. The system, which comes with Notebook collaborative learning software, runs with most third-party software, including Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel, and it works with all interactive whiteboard brands, according to the company. Line-array microphone station

Audio system

QVS recently released the Mini Video Distribution Amplifier, an ultra-portable unit that broadcasts a 300 MHz UXGA signal to at least two video display outputs simultaneously up to 200 feet. The unit is self-powered through VGA or USB port, and comes with a built-in, 1-foot cable. Loudspeakers

The new 8XT and 12XT from L-Acoustics deliver sonic performance in a versatile multitasking package. Featuring an extremely compact (16.6 inches x 9.8 inches x 10.6 inches) and lightweight (24.2-pound) design is the 8XT cabinet, which has a frequency response of 65 Hz to 20 kHz. The new CLOUD12 features a redesigned frequency dividing network with improved high-order filter slopes for improved off-axis clarity and intelligibility, as well as a new lower-profile design. JBL Professional adds two new models to its VP series powered loudspeaker systems. The VP7210/95DP is a powered, 10-inch, two-way integrated loudspeaker system for spot-fill applications, featuring 1,750 watts of peak output power and onboard digital signal processing. The VP7210/95DP transducers are a JBL's 2260FF 10-inch Differential Drive Woofer and the JBL 2452H-SL compression driver.
