LifeSize Debuts Sub-$5K HD Videoconferencing System

LifeSize Communications announced its high definition video communication system with a retail price less then $5,000. The LifeSize Express with the new LifeSize Focus integrated HD camera and microphone array, is available for $4,999.
“LifeSize Express with Focus is the world’s most affordable telepresence system,” said Craig Malloy, CEO and founder of LifeSize Communications. “We are committed to extending our price-performance leadership and bringing the telepresence experience to everyone.”
The LifeSize Focus features a high definition video camera that delivers full HD 1280 x 720 video at 30 frames per second and in a wide range of light conditions. Integrating a two-microphone array with beam-forming technology into the camera housing saves space and reduces clutter. The Focus actually integrates with all LifeSize video codecs, including LifeSize Team MP and LifeSize Room, in addition to LifeSize Express.
According to the company, these systems are suited for enterprises expanding and upgrading their video infrastructure as well as for new users, and simple enough for anyone to use yet can be fully managed and integrated into a sophisticated IT infrastructure.
Additionally, LifeSize announced the release of several core management and infrastructure solutions: LifeSize Control, LifeSize Gatekeeper, LifeSize Multipoint, LifeSize Gateway, and LifeSize Networker.
