Mitsubishi Extends Lantronix Partnership
Lantronix, a provider of remote device networking and data center management technologies, announced that Mitsubishi Electric selected Lantronix’s XPort embedded networking connectivity module to further provide remote management and monitoring capabilities for its high-volume projectors.

Mitsubishi already uses XPort to provide networking capabilities for its high-end DLP projectors, allowing customers to access, monitor, and control equipment from any location via the Internet.
XPort is a compact, integrated embedded device server and network processing module that provides manufacturers with the ability to design Ethernet or IP networking capabilities into almost any device with a serial interface. In a package slightly larger than an RJ-45 jack, it incorporates all the essential hardware and software and optionally provides AES encryption for secure standard communications.
In Mitsubishi’s case, say Lantronix officials, a custom software program called ProjectorView was developed to easily display the status of each projector. Using XPort’s built-in Web server, a remote user can access the ProjectorView screen via their PC browser. This permits proactive monitoring of each projector’s performance, including lamp and internal temperature, how long the lamp has been running, the last maintenance, and installation data in real time. ProjectorView also allows each customer’s maintenance personnel to remotely operate the fundamental functions of each projector over the Internet.
“XPort will help Mitsubishi provide an integrated solution that allows them to quickly and easily build network connectivity into their end solutions, while reducing engineering risks and costs,” said Jerry Chase, CEO for Lantronix, in a statement.
