The XD3200U XGA and widescreen WD3300U WXGA were designed for lecture halls, large classrooms, boardrooms, conference rooms, church sanctuaries, and other presentation rooms. The XD221U offers a 10-watt loudspeaker and audio mix capability, closed captioning decoder, user-friendly menus, and a low cost of ownership to help make teaching more effective.
“The installation projectors have a new color wheel, body design, and lamp drive system that help to increase overall performance, durability, and reliability,” said Wayne Kozuki, product manager at Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, in a statement. “These improvements also make installation efficient and cost-effective.”
Regarding the XD221U, Kozuki adds, “Teachers and trainers capture more attention and have greater impact when using multimedia technology, and our new XD221U makes presenting easier than ever. The audio features enhance the teachers’ ability to make the subject interesting not only visually but also through clearer sounds and audible information.”
The XD3200U XGA and WD3300U WXGA create color images with an almost sealed color wheel that helps prevent dust accumulation. The new color wheel design, along with an improved air-flow cooling duct path, allows the projectors to operate at a 26 dBA noise level in low mode. Both models also include a new lamp drive system that the company says reduces the overall deterioration rate of the lamp, helping the lamp to retain consistent projection brightness over a longer period of time and maintain an a lamp life of up to 4,000 hours in low mode. The WD3300 emits 4,000 lumens, while the XD3200 emits 4,500 lumens. Optional lenses support various throw distances.
The XD221U is designed with two separate 3.5 mm audio inputs and a built-in audio mixer, so the projector can simultaneously project audio from two sources, such as a DVD and a third-party wireless microphone. Its Audio Mix feature allows users to adjust the volume levels of each input for its 10-watt built-in loudspeaker, permitting an instructor to orally interject key points during a presentation and be heard over the video.
The XD221U emits a rated 2,300 lumens, enough for well-lit classrooms, says the company, and has a native XGA resolution with DLP technology. The lack of filter intends to decrease dust accumulation and save on maintenance costs. The lamp life is rated up to 4,000 hours in low mode. The projector also includes dual 15-pin computer inputs, as well as S-Video and RCA video inputs.
