Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America unveiled its 2009 line of premium flat-panel TVs. The new Unisen brand comprises three new series that feature integrated 16-speaker Dolby Digital 5.1 channel immersive sound technology and screen sizes from 40 to 52 inches. According to the company, Unisen will allow consumers to enjoy concert-quality sound in their homes without the need for separate home theater components.

“Unisen was built upon the principle of uniting video imagery with fully integrated immersive sound technology to streamline and enhance the consumer’s home theater entertainment experience,” said Frank DeMartin, vice president of marketing for Mitsubishi Digital Electronics, in a statement.

Each model features a new ultra-thin frame design measuring less than 1 inch and 120 Hz film motion for viewing fast- and slow-moving programs. Each model features wide color gamut backlight technology, reproducing approximately 25 percent more color than most LCD TVs, according to the company. All Unisen models are EnergyStar 3.0 rated.

Mitsubishi also its new Home Theater TV series for 2009, which offers 3D-Ready viewing technology, a feature the company says is more in demand as 3D content production continues to increase. In addition to 3D-Ready, the new Home Theater TV line includes large screen sizes, such as an 82-inch model.

“We view home theater television as a growth category, and our new 2009 line-up provides larger screen sizes, new technology enhancements, and notable efficiency in operating power consumption, which is becoming a prominent factor that consumers now consider when making a TV purchase,” said DeMartin.

Unisen models will ship to authorized retailers in May with suggested retail prices from $1,799 to $3,299, depending on size and features.

Home Theater TV models are now available for between $1,499 and $4,999.
