The NEC Eye Flavor, an all-in-one, portable advanced digital signage board, comprises a large LCD display, camera, streaming controller, and effectiveness analysis software. What’s really unique is its use of NEC’s face recognition technology to distribute targeted ad content according to a customer’s gender and age.

For now, Eye Flavor is only available in Japan for 2 million yen (about $21,500), and the face recognition software applies only to Japanese faces. But NEC says trials to advance the signage solution and broaden its application are ongoing.
