The National Systems Contractor Association (NSCA) recently launched a new online, self-paced class that allows installers and technicians to learn the nontechnical skills required for success in a matter of months, according to the association. NSCA University’s Quick Start for Systems Contractors is a solution for new employees and staff who were never been properly trained on certain aspects of the job.

Quick Start includes five modules that focus on industry knowledge, customer service, troubleshooting, project documentation, and responsibility. Staff members who perform these soft skills well can help a company become more profitable by helping customers solve problems, save time, and have a better experience, says NSCA officials.

“In today’s economy, setting yourself apart from your competitors is key,” said Norah Hammond, NSCA senior director of professional development, in a statement. “Simple exercises, such as practicing consistent customer service, knowing the industry, and understanding a range of products and services, shows your customers that you will get the job done right, and also improves your representation of you organization, the industry, and the products you install.”

Participants can sign up for one module or all five. According to NSCA, each module is designed to teach essential skills in the topic area and includes feature to check their understanding. Activities and other interactive methods keep students involved in the session.

To make a reservation for the online class, e-mail [email protected] or call 800-446-6722. The five-module package costs $299 for members and $319 for nonmembers; individual modules cost $69 for members and $89 for nonmembers each.
