Sub-bass enclosure

Turbosound's TSW-218 sub-bass enclosure consists of dual, 18-inch modular coupling horns designed for stadium, arena, and nightclub use in the sub-100 Hz frequency range. Each of the enclosure's 18-inch transducers features a 5-inch-diameter voice coil and high-temperature, neodymium magnet structures. The TSW-218 offers 104 dB sensitivity, 135 dB continuous SPL, 4-ohm nominal impedance, and 1,200 W RMS power handling. IR extender

Targeted for use in office, conference room, and consumer applications, Remaco's IRE-120 IR extender broadcasts IR signals through radio frequencies from one room to another via transmitter and receiver units. The extender features -95 dBm sensitivity, a 12 dBm power level, and operates at 434 MHz RF frequency. According to the company, the IRE-120 can transmit signals up to 75 feet. Price: N/A. Interactive whiteboard

Smart Technologies has released the Smart Board 600 Series interactive whiteboard, which is designed for large meeting room installations. The whiteboard features two built-in 15 W speakers, Smart Board Software 9.1, a redesigned Smart pen tray, and a help button for access to a screen orientation feature and the company's online training and support material. Videoconferencing endpoints

Tandberg has introduced the 6000 MXP Profile, 3000 MXP Profile, and Profile Set-top Package multimedia endpoints. Targeted at medium- to large-sized groups, the 6000 MXP Profile offers the Tandberg 6000 MXP codec, a 43- or 50-inch plasma display, a WAVE II camera, an integrated digital, 250 W amplifier, and a PC input cable with integrated audio input. The 3000 MXP Profile, which is designed for medium-sized groups, features the company's 3000 MXP codec, a 43-inch plasma or 32-inch LCD display, a WAVE II camera, an integrated digital, 60 W amplifier, and a PC input cable with integrated audio input. Designed for medium- to small-sized groups, the Profile Set-top Package offers a 43-inch plasma or 32-inch LCD display with integrated audio, and integrates with any Tandberg MXP set-top unit. Media entertainment players

Targeted for use in public display applications, the CodexNovus HDCodex DML-250 (250 GB hard drive) and DML-1000 (1 TB hard drive, pictured here) media entertainment players enable users to play back interactive multimedia presentations combining video, audio, pictures, and graphics. RF student response system

GTCO CalComp has released the InterWrite PRS RF student response system, which consists of a receiver and up to 2,000 handheld transmitters. The RF system features a two-line LCD display, which allows students to see their answers and receive confirmation of transmission. Flat-panel displays

Sony has released the 32-inch FWD-32LX1R and 40-inch FWD-40LX1 (pictured here) flat-panel LCD displays, and the 50-inch FWD-50PX2 plasma display. Targeted for use in retail and hospitality applications, both LCD displays offer a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, the company's WEGA Engine digital processing system, and S-LCD panels designed for improved black level reproduction and gradation, according to the company. Targeted for use in office lobbies or reception areas, the plasma display features a 10,000:1 contrast ratio, DVI-HDCP, and dual option slots. Audioconferencing systems

Targeted for use in medium-sized, single-room installations with up to nine microphones, ClearOne Communications' Converge 560 and 590 professional audioconferencing systems offer microphone distribution boxes that convert analog mic signals to digital data on a single Cat5 cable. The systems enable users to connect up to nine wireless, tabletop, button, or podium mics using XLR connectors. Each system includes a dedicated wired or wireless controller, and can interface with video codec systems and serial controllers. Available in two models, the Converge 560 features two mic distribution boxes with three XLR connectors per box, an audio mixer, and a wired or wireless controller. Digital signage software

3M Digital Signage has released version 2.0 of its FRED Network digital signage software, which is designed to distribute media files, schedule playlists, and monitor a network of digital signs from computers connected to the Internet. The software's Active Information Modules enable users to schedule live content feed updates such as local weather, stocks, news, and sports. Current FRED Network 1.1 users will receive automatic upgrades to the new software when they log into their 3M Digital Signage accounts. Price: N/A. Availability: currently available. Digital document camera

Targeted for use in education, corporate, and courtroom applications, the Justice Visions JV-850K professional digital document camera from Alliance International features a progressive-scan CCD camera with 850,000 pixels, 16X optical zoom (plus 10X digital zoom), and USB 2.0 image capture. The document camera offers a plug-in mouse for annotation and image function control, a rotating camera head, a full backlight for displaying transparencies, RS232 connectivity, and a 30 f/s refresh rate. Subwoofer

Designed for use in houses of worship, performing arts centers, and live music applications, the DTS-20 Tower of Power subwoofer from Danley Sound Labs offers an 18 Hz to 150 Hz frequency range (-3 dB), a maximum output of 122 dB SPL, and 95 dB SPL sensitivity. AV device controllers

Calypso's ION Series of pro AV device controllers offers serial, Ethernet, relay, general-purpose, and IR inputs and outputs. Based on the company's c_Link integrated event database architecture protocol, each Ethernet-ready controller enables the use of standard programs such as Microsoft Word or PowerPoint as control interface tools. The ION-e features one bi-directional RS232 serial port, four IR outputs, two IR inputs, two general-purpose relay outputs, and an IR receiver that stores codes for remote controls. The ION-4s offers four bi-directional serial ports. The ION-8i includes eight general-purpose inputs and one Ethernet bi-directional serial port. Cat5 VGA extenders

TV One has introduced the 1T-VGA-CAT, 1T-VGA-CAT-XL, 1T-VGA4-CAT-TXL, and 1T-VGA8-CAT-TXL transmitters and the 1T-VGA-CAT-RXL receiver, which are designed to send VGA signals over long distances via standard Cat5 cables. The 1T-VGA-CAT transmitter encodes and decodes VGA signals with resolutions up to 1280x1024 into a bitstream for remote viewing using one Cat5 cable. The 1T-VGA-CAT-XL doubles the range of operation to 1,180 feet, and also offers VGA loop-through. For applications with multiple displays, the 1T-VGA4-CAT-TXL and 1T-VGA8-CAT-TXL feed four and eight Cat5 cables, respectively. Each transmitter requires the 1T-VGA-CAT-RXL receiver, which offers independent equalization and gain control. Digital DVI matrix routers

PureLink has released the DS-1818M (18 inputs, 18 outputs) and the DS-99M (nine inputs, nine outputs) digital DVI matrix routers. Both systems support display resolutions from 480i to 1080p, a maximum bandwidth of single-link 1.65 Gb/s, and digital TMDS and RGB signal types. Each model offers manual front panel control and IR remote control, as well as RS232C and LAN connectivity. The units feature 29-pin DVI-I female connector types. Line array configuration software

TCS Audio has released EASE Focus software for its model TL1200 line array. The software is a 2D, acoustic simulation program that enables users to configure and model line arrays. It calculates the array's dimensions, weight, and center of gravity to determine correct pick points and hang angles. The EASE Focus software and TCS Audio line arrays are designed to be used in arenas, theaters, amphitheaters, and outdoor events. Price: free to download from the company's website. As an HDTV tuner, the unit supports ATSC and NTSC broadcasts from off-air antenna and cable RF inputs. The tuner also decodes clear-cable, digital QAM channels, and controls external analog cable boxes for subscription-based programming. Universal wall mount

Chief Manufacturing has introduced the PLP-U universal Pull-N-Tilt wall mount for large, flat-panel TVs measuring 37 to 65 inches diagonal, and weighing up to 200 pounds. The PLP-U features Chief's Q-Latch Mounting System for installation.
