The Mediasite RL400 from Sonic Foundry is a real-time media recorder targeted for use in fixed installation applications such as lecture halls, corporate training facilities, and conference rooms. The unit captures analog video in S-video, composite, NTSC, and PAL formats, as well as digital video via its IEEE-1394 DV and USB inputs. The unit records analog audio through two balanced XLR and two unbalanced RCA inputs, captures digital audio through IEEE-1394 DV and USB digital audio inputs, and the unit’s secondary audio card captures audio via its line-in, mic-in, and mic-out inputs. Peerless Industries has released three flat-panel mounts for ceiling and wall installation applications. The LCD Ceiling Mount is designed for 13- to 29-inch flat-panel screens in portrait or landscape orientation mounted in a standard position or facing the floor. The smART Mount Universal Tilt Wall Mount (pictured here) for 32- to 63-inch flat-panel screens is self-balancing and enables adjustment of the screen without tools or knobs. The Universal Flat Wall Mount is designed for 32- to 63-inch flat-panel screens in digital signage, boardroom, and front desk applications. Designed for installation applications that run through conduit, the EZLINX termination system from Liberty Wire & Cable provides a proprietary quick-connect solution to eliminate the need for soldering. The quick-connect solution includes the LINX cable, which is a 26 AWG cable with a 13-pin female connector on each end, and a pigtail with a 13-pin male connector on one end and one of 14 molded assembly connector pins on the other end. Intelix has released its MZP Comet-DTMF touchtone phone interfacing software for the MZP multi-zone paging and program distribution system. With the Comet-DTMF, an unlimited number of users have access paging ability in up to 128 software-definable zones through analog and PBX touchtone phone systems, independent zone-selectable paging microphones, and other contact closure-enabled devices. Designed for education applications, the WSV-40 multimedia workstation from Sound-Craft Systems is available with an optional cable port outlet, a 16-space rack mount, a wiring duct, a cooling fan, a duplex outlet, and a monitor well. The 225-pound workstation measures 41.5 inches high by 41.8 inches wide by 27 inches deep and offers a 23- by 26.3-inch folding document camera shelf. The VIO 1600 image converter from Analog Way is designed for use in professional AV applications. Polycom has released the InstantDesigner v. 2.0, which is a room design wizard for Polycom’s Vortex Conference Composer software. Designed for integrators and consultants, the software guides system designers through the steps required to create audioconferencing and sound reinforcement solutions. The user chooses the necessary inputs, outputs, and optional sound reinforcement zones needed for the desired system, and the software selects the appropriate Polycom devices and maps the system. Turbosound has introduced the TA-880H three-way, mid-high enclosure and the TA-880L low-frequency cabinet loudspeaker, which are targeted for use in ground-stacking, touring, and fixed installation applications such as nightclubs, sports facilities, theaters, and exhibition centers. The TA-880H features Turbosound’s Polyhorn technology, which provides a phase-coherent wavefront at the horn mouth and sharp cut-off at the pattern edges. Targeted for use in boardroom, classroom, retail, and kiosk applications, the PDS EZtouch line of touch overlays for large flat-panel displays from Electrograph feature scratch-resistant surfaces that use optical imaging touchscreen technology to produce a touch accuracy of ±2 mm. Designed for FOH engineers, monitor engineers, and systems contractors, the DriveRack 4800 system processor from dbx Professional features a 96 kHz processing engine and standard digital I/O that extend frequency response and reduce latency, according to the company. Symetrix has introduced a line of remote control wall panels for its Symnet Audio Matrix platform designed for audio control applications such as volume, priority paging, preset switching, and room-combining. Models include: the ARC-K1, a dual-function rotary encoder; the ARC-SW4, a four-button control with bi-color LEDs; the ARC-SWK, a four-button control with an encoder that combines an ARC-K1 and ARC-SW4; the ARC-Mic, which incorporates the SW4 panel and an onboard condenser microphone with push-button talk; the ARC-XLR, which incorporates the SW4 panel and an XLR connector; the EXK, an extension encoder; and the EX4, which offers an extension button panel. The Cat5 5000 HD from Gefen is designed to extend two digital video displays and DDC and USB signals over Cat5 cables. The unit is made up of a rack-mountable sender and receiver offering two DVI ports and one USB port. The ports enable the creation of a remote dual display workstation controlled by a USB keyboard and mouse. ClearOne Communications has released the MAXAttach wired conferencing phone system, which incorporates two phone units that link together. According to the company, the MAXAttach provides even sound in medium- and small-sized rooms by doubling the number of speakers and microphones, and enabling multiple systems to be linked for use in larger conference rooms. The system features Gentner Distributed Echo Cancellation and first-microphone priority technologies, full-duplex sound, and three microphones per unit. Price: $799. Yamaha has introduced the Installation Series of sound reinforcement speakers, which includes 12-inch and 15-inch full-range, two- and three-way loudspeakers, horn-loaded mid/high loudspeakers, single and dual 8-inch, two-way loudspeakers, a dual 5-inch, full-range speaker, and single and dual 15-inch and 18-inch subwoofers. Cabinets can be stacked, arrayed, or hung, and multi-angled cabinets can be used as floor monitors. Price: $700 to $2,900. Availability: June (all models). The PLV-WF10 is a widescreen, 16:9 aspect ratio LCD projector from Sanyo Fisher. The projector offers WXGA (1366×768) resolution, 4,000 ANSI lumens of brightness, a 900:1 contrast ratio, and 8-bit motion de-interlace image processing circuits. Network control and administration is enabled via an optical network board and a Cat5 network connection. Xantech Commercial has introduced the IPRS23202 XtraLink IP, which enables the transmission of RS232, RS422, or RS485 serial commands over an existing IP network to a specific IP address. The transmitter offers Ethernet connection through a single female RJ45 connector, serial connection through a nine-pin D-type male connector, and DC power through a 2.1 mm coaxial connector. The Galileo loudspeaker management system from Meyer Sound is a hardware/software system that enables users to drive and align sound reinforcement systems using multiple zones. The system consists of the Galileo 616, a six-input/ 16-output 2U, fully digital matrix processor and the company’s Compass control software. The software is designed to operate the Galileo 616 via a graphical environment running on a remote computer or tablet. Extron has added the MTP RL 15HD RS mini twisted pair receiver with loop-through to its MTP 15HD RS Series. The receiver is designed to work with the MTP 15HD transmitter to transmit RGB, component, S-video and composite video, as well as bi-directional RS232 signals over a single UTP cable. The receiver features a female RJ45 output connector and a buffered twisted pair output, which enables up to seven receivers to be connected in a series. Price: $530. Targeted for use in government, house of worship, and education applications, the PMD660 from Marantz is a compact digital recorder that provides one-touch digital recording to Compact Flash media cards. The recorder offers on-board editing via a copy segment option as well as playback and instant audio access to preset market points via the unit’s virtual track mode. Uncompressed WAV files can be recorded at 44.1 or 48 kHz and MP3 files can be recorded in mono (at 64 kb/s) or in stereo (at 128 kb/s). Price: $649. Availability: currently available. The MediaWall 2000 from RGB Spectrum is a multi-screen display processor that accepts up to six graphic and six video inputs, supports up to 1920×1200 and HDTV resolutions, and displays them simultaneously across up to four screens. The MediaWall offers an embedded operating system that eliminates the limitations in real-time, update-rate, and configuration applications that can result from using an external PC architecture, according to the company. Da-Lite has added four new models to its Cosmopolitan Electrol automatic electric projection screen line: 188- and 216-inch diagonal screens for HDTV applications and 210- and 240-inch diagonal screens for NTSC applications. The new models offer a two-piece aluminum extruded case that measures 7.9 feet high by 6.8 feet deep. Adjustable ceiling and wall mounting brackets are included for installation. Atlas Sound has introduced the WMA Series equipment racks, which are designed for improved wire management, easier equipment access, and installation flexibility, according to the company. The series offers five models: the 10-23 (10 RU), the 12-23 (12 RU), the 16-23 (16 RU), the 24-23 (24 RU), and the 35-23 (35 RU). Each model measures 21.9 inches wide and has an overall depth of 23.6 inches. The racks offer top and bottom knockouts on the rear section for UHF/VHF antennas and conduit. The display offers a 16:9 aspect ratio, 1366×768 resolution, an 800:1 contrast ratio, a 15 ms response time, and a five-level color temperature setting. The AT892 MicroSet omnidirectional condenser headworn microphone from Audio-Technica is targeted for use in corporate presentation, house of worship, education, and theatre sound reinforcement applications. The microphone is available in multiple terminations to work with Audio-Technica and other manufacturers’ wireless systems. The CS496XX family of audio system processors from Cirrus Logic is designed to integrate the company’s CobraNet technology and deliver real-time, uncompressed digital audio over Ethernet networks. The CS496102, CS496112, and CS496122 combine the power of a 120-MIPS audio optimized, 32-bit DSP with a CobraNet communications processor, in a single chip. The CS496102 supports two channels of simultaneous audio in/out. The CS496112 supports eight channels of simultaneous audio in-out, while the CS496122 supports 16 channels of simultaneous audio in/out. The TH4 digital hybrid telephone interface from Lectrosonics seamlessly integrates telephone line signals into the mixing and routing matrix when used with the company’s DM Series DSP matrix processors. The interface features acoustic and line echo cancellers and the DTMF dialer, which features two-wire/four-wire bridging and far-end automatic gain control. The VS10 BP compact subwoofer system from Tannoy is designed to extend low frequency response and increase system headroom in Tannoy V Series loudspeakers. The VS10 BP includes two pairs of 4 mm binding posts for the amplifier input and high-pass output connectors for satellite loudspeakers, which enables the subwoofer and satellites to be driven from a single amplifier channel. Draper has introduced the Salara line of motorized projection screens for standard AV, NTSC, HDTV, and widescreen formats. The Salara offers a 10-foot power cord and can be controlled by a wireless wall switch or a remote control. Standard AV format Salara screens range from 50 inches by 50 inches square to 96 inches by 96 inches square; NTSC screens range from 72 inches to 120 inches diagonal; HDTV screens range from 65 to 106 inches diagonal; and widescreen-formatted screens range from 99 inches to 108 inches diagonal. Targeted for use in house of worship, boardroom, and training room applications, the DW3K (pictured here) and DW6K are widescreen projectors from Christie. Both models feature WXGA (1280×720) resolution, a 16:9 aspect ratio, a 1,500 to 2,000:1 contrast ratio, and 10-bit image processing. They also feature built-in edge blending and optional image warping, which enables images to be wrapped around curved objects. The R150 Plus, R300 Plus, and R500 Plus reference amplifiers from Inter-M Americas are two-channel, 2RU models that are convection-cooled for noiseless operation, according to the company. The R150 Plus produces 150 W at 8 ohms in bridged-mono mode and 75 W/4 ohms per channel in stereo mode. The R300 Plus produces 300 W at 8 ohms in bridged-mono mode and 150 W/4 ohms per channel in stereo mode. The R500 Plus (pictured here) produces 460 W at 8 ohms in bridged-mono mode and 250 W/4 ohms per channel in stereo mode. Soundcraft has added the eight-bus GB8 mixing console to its GB Series. The GB8 is available in sizes from 16 to 48 mono channels, each with four stereo channels and four stereo returns. Targeted for use in houses of worship, performance venues, and other fixed installation applications, the console’s dual-mode topology enables FOH and monitor duties with fader control of group or auxiliary outputs. The console features a sloping rear connector panel that allows users to configure from the front of the desk, and an integral power supply link option for external backup PSU. Biamp Systems has released Version 3.6 of its Audia software, which features the EventScheduler block designed to enhance automation of scheduled audio events in facilities that rely on timed events, announcements, message routing, or audio adjustments dictated by time. The company’s OP2e AudiaFlex output card (pictured here) offers six levels of full-scale output ranging from +24 dBu to –31 dBu and offers improved signal-to-noise ratio, according to the company.
