Technology awards recognize innovative product development.

Award ceremonies mingled with educational sessions and product demonstrations at this year’s NSCA Expo.
Exhibitors, educational offerings, and attendance steadily increase each year as NSCA continues on a path of incremental growth that parallels the industry it serves. The NSCA is in ways a good reflection of the climate of the industry. This year’s expo featured a good mixture of market segments, representing audio, video, security, IT, and all the gray areas in between (otherwise known as convergence).

The Digital Signage Pavilion was the largest single-themed area on the show floor of the expo, featuring a dedicated seminar area, along with exhibitors. Audio manufacturers used demo rooms just outside the exhibit entrance to provide practical presentations of their technologies.
In addition to manufacturers’ exhibits, educational sessions, and various receptions honoring people and technology were held during the course of the expo, including the Innovations In Technology Awards (co-sponsored by Sound & Video Contractor and NSCA).

INNOVATIONS IN TECHNOLOGY AWARDS
The Fourth Annual Innovations In Technology Awards recognized product development in the following areas: Audio, Business Productivity, Control Systems, Convergence, Security/Fire/Life Safety, Video/Display, and Website. Three finalists in each category were selected by an anonymous panel that comprised members of industry press, consultants, and integrators and judged against a standard of excellence and the impact each has on the advancement of the electronic systems industry. The finalists were presented at the 2006 Membership Luncheon. Attendees voted on the final winners in each category.

With the votes tallied, the 2006 Innovations in Technology Awards were presented during the President’s Reception on March 17. Sound & Video Contractor Editor Mark Johnson announced the winners and Video Technology Editor Trevor Boyer and NSCA Executive Director Chuck Wilson presented the awards.
AND THE WINNERS ARE…
Mike Lohman, manager, public relations and event marketing, Shure
In the Audio category Shure’s UHF-R wireless system was recognized; in the Business Productivity category, the award went to Crestron’s SystemBuilder 2.0; and AMX’s Mio Modero DMS Pinnacle received top honors in the Control Systems category. Extron received the award in the Convergence category for its MGP 464 four-window multi-graphic processor and TOA Electronics won in the Security/Fire/Life Safety category for its N-8000 series IP network intercom systems. In the Video/Display category, Avocent’s Emerge wireless media streamer was honored, and in the Website category, Extron’s site, www.extron.com, took home the award.
