Retail company Eddie Bauer has incorporated updateable signage using Pioneer plasma display panels. A recent study conducted by the Eddie Bauer and the University of Indiana revealed a sales increase at outlet stores that use the plasma displays.

The first installation, at the retail store in Bloomington, Indiana, used a 50-inch Pioneer display. When sales went up, Eddie Bauer contracted with Visual Systems and Services for 10 more installations around the country.

These display panels are attractive to retail establishments because they weigh under 90 pounds and are under 4 inches thick. The panels can be mounted on a wall, flown from the ceiling or mounted on a cart or moveable arm, offering versatility for the stores. “Armed with the capability of using plasma display technology to create virtually endless possibilities in updateable signage, retailers…are beginning to see a real advantageous tool here that is starting to change the face of in-store advertising as we know it,” commented Craig McManis, vice president of marketing for Pioneer’s Industrial Display Division.
