Themed entertainment venues at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum and at SeaWorld San Diego are using the QuVIS QuBit high-definition motion image server.
The SBMM is an educational platform to archive Central California’s maritime history. The museum wanted a “theatrical experience to create a sense of awe and beauty in an intimate environment,” according to SBMM director Ed Cassano. The QuBit allows unique daily programming from imagery in all formats.
SeaWorld San Diego uses the QuBit on its “Wild Arctic” virtual helicopter ride. The park upgraded to this product from its former laserdisc operation. The QuBit gives the ride enhanced image quality and improved color over the old system. Sea World initially installed QuBits only in two of four simulator rides. Pleased with the performance, the park has since installed the system in the two remaining rides.
