Remote-Controlled Switchers: Tributaries Compact HDMI HX410 and HX410A

Tributaries announces two new compact remote-controlled HDMI switchers, the HX410 and the HX410A.

Tributaries announces two new compact remote-controlled HDMI switchers, the HX410 and the HX410A. The two are nearly identical: Both select from four HDMI sources âeuro” DVD players; Blu-ray Disc or HD DVD players; and cable, satellite, or broadcast HD boxes or tuners âeuro” and they output signals to a single HDMI output, including signal enhancement for maintaining transmissions over long cable runs. Each model has a built-in booster that allows it to be mounted with other equipment and still run 30 meters of 1080p signal. The difference is that the HX410A model includes both optical and coaxial S/PDIF digital-audio ports, so that the signals can route independently. The switchers are HDMI 1.3 and HDCP 1.1 compliant and incorporate wireless remote control and RS-232 serial control. The serial port allows them to integrate with a multiroom media system or touchscreen-controlled home. Price: HX410, $300; HX410A, $400.
