RGB Expands Switcher Line, Debuts Fiber DVI

RGB Spectrum has expanded its Linx family of Cross X Format routing switchers with the Linx 1700 16x16, and debuted the new XtendView FiberDVI compact single fiber DVI cabling solution for up to 1,000 feet.

RGB Spectrum has expanded its Linx family of CrossXFormat routing switchers with the Linx 1700 16x16, and debuted the new XtendView FiberDVI compact single fiber DVI cabling solution for up to 1,000 feet.

Linx 1700 16x16

Incorporating the company's CrossXFormat architecture, the Linx 1700 uses internally converted inputs that are processed through the switcher and output as DVI. Intended for facilities in transition from analog video to DVI, or that require continuing use of specialized equipment with analog RGB outputs, the Linx 1700 accepts almost any combination of RGB and DVI signals, according to the company. Configurations include 8 or 16 inputs with 8 or 16 outputs. Custom configurations are also available, and smaller configurations can be upgraded in the field. Built-in HDCP support allows the device to accommodate content-protected DVI signals.

The XtendView FiberDVI consists of transmit and receive modules, with industry-standard SC-type jacks and a headshell solution with miniaturized electronics that fits within the connector housing. The DDC channel containing EDID information is combined with the DVI video so only a single fiber is required.

The modules offer a variety of power options, including USB, an external power adapter, or (in the case of the transmit module), PIN power.
