Samma Systems, a developer and manufacturer of solutions for digitizing medium- to large-sized analog videotape archives, appointed Charles Taylor as its U.S vice president of broadcast and production sales.

Samma Systems, a developer and manufacturer of solutions for digitizing medium- to large-sized analog videotape archives, appointed Charles Taylor as its U.S vice president of broadcast and production sales.

An industry veteran with more the 25 years of experience, Taylor spent 23 years with Sony Electronics. He held sales, marketing, and executive positions, rising from sales engineer to senior vice president of the studios and post division. His most notable and awarded accomplishments include the introduction of advanced HD products into the U.S. market, launching and managing over 50 new products, overseeing a staff of more than 100 for the marketing and sales of broadcast and professional equipment in 23 states, and consistently outperforming sales growth expectations.

“Charlie’s career has been highlighted by sustained success in broadcast sales,” said Mark Gray, Samma Systems president, in a statement. “His broad experience and extensive knowledge of the broadcast industry make him ideally suited for this important position at Samma.”

Taylor started his career as a field engineer for Ampex Corp., where he advanced to senior staff engineer during his nine years there. He also provided professional sales and organizational consultancy services to numerous broadcast technology companies. Most recently, he served as vice president of worldwide sales for Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Zaxel Systems, which supplies lossless compression codecs and servers to the high-end post-production market, and manufactures specialized products for management and storage of HD files.
