Sennheiser, Swedien Partner on Classes

Sennheiser and sound engineer Bruce Swedien have collaborated to offer a master class, “Critical Listening with Bruce Swedien.”

Swedien, who engineered albums for Herbie Hancock, Mick Jagger, and Paul McCartney, uses Sennheiser and Neumann microphones to help students improve their perspective and technique. The gear in his Ocala, Fla.-based studio is used to demonstrate the principles of critical listening in every phase of high-end recording, from preparation to the final mix.

“Critical listening is a form of listening that involves analysis, serious thinking, and thoughtful judgment,” said Swedien. “In the professional world of recording and mixing music, critical listening is used every day.”

“We are proud of our association with Bruce and his work through the years, and delighted that Sennheiser and Neumann continue to be a part of his everyday repertoire,” said Dawn Birr, product manager for Sennheiser professional products, in a statement.

While the “Critical Listening with Bruce Swedien” January 2009 class is sold out, an additional class has been scheduled for the end of March. To register, visit www.criticallistening.net.
