The Sextant Group, a national independent technology consulting and design firm, has opened a new office inside the beltway of Washington, D.C.

The Sextant Group, a national independent technology consulting and design firm, has opened a new office inside the beltway of Washington, D.C.

The new branch offers improved access and better service for clients in Virginia, Maryland, and the surrounding areas. The Sextant Group specializes in audiovisual and information technologies, building security, acoustics consulting, and strategic technology planning.

“Despite concerns about the economy, we’re very bullish on this expansion,” said Mark Valenti, president and CEO of the Sextant Group. “Even from the very early days of the company in 1995, there has been strong need for our services in the mid Atlantic.”

The Sextant Group has completed or is currently working on academic, research, and government projects valued at nearly $500 million in the District and two adjoining states alone. The projects include George Mason University Academic VI/Research II facility, James Madison University College of Integrated Science and Technology, and Logistics University for the Department of Defense.

The firm is also currently working on multiple projects for the University of Mary Washington, including the Dahlgren Research Center and Information & Technology Convergence Center, and a series of facilities for the University of Virginia, including the new Medical Education Building, Information Technology Engineering Building, and Life Science Building.

The new office will be located at on I Street SE in the District. A staffing announcement for the new office will be made shortly.

The Sextant Group also operates offices in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Phoenix, and Pittsburgh. Specializations include education, medical, corporate, government, institutional, performing arts, broadcast, and sports and recreation.
