Sharp Names Chairman and CEO
Sharp Electronics Corp. announced the promotion of Daisuke (Doug) Koshima to chairman and CEO.
Sharp Electronics Corp. announced the promotion of Daisuke (Doug) Koshima to chairman and CEO, replacing Toshihiko Fujimoto, who will transfer to his new assignment as general manager for strategic planning with the International Business Group of Sharp Corp.
In his new position, Koshima will oversee overall direction, management and administration of all corporate operations for the company’s various divisions, and will be responsible for the strategic vision for the company.
“Mr. Koshima has proven to be a successful leader within various divisions of Sharp Corp., and I am confident that he will be a tremendous asset in the role of chairman and CEO,” said outgoing Chairman and CEO Fujimoto. “This company has enjoyed significant corporate progress during my tenure here, and I know that Mr. Koshima will be able to further that progress by leveraging Sharp’s strategic focus on one-of-a-kind products and LCD leadership to help grow the brand and contribute to future successes.”
Koshima has been with Sharp Corp. for 37 years, most recently as corporate director and group general manager of the International Business Group. He also served as senior executive vice president in the Consumer Electronics Group at Sharp Electronic Corp. from 1996 until 2001.
