Vizio Releases $599 Plasmas

Vizio announced that its two newest plasma models, the 42-inch VP422 and 32-inch VP322, will be available for $799 and $599 respectively.

Vizio, a consumer flat-panel HDTV provider, announced that its two newest plasma models, the 42-inch VP422 and 32-inch VP322, will be available for $799 and $599 respectively.

Both displays offer a contrast ratio of 30,000:1 and 720p HD resolution. Independent RGB adjustment allows users to fine-tune video performance to any source, including those from the component video, RGB PC, and three HDMI inputs that provide direct HD connection to the TV. There is also an ATSC/QAM/NTSC tuner along with standard definition inputs.

According to Vizio, the VP422 and VP322 use the latest generation of glass, which provides increased brightness levels for viewing in high ambient light conditions and a 60,000-hour half-life. The two models began shipping in May.

“America’s consumers have made the 32- and 37-inch LCD HDTVs their best sellers,” said Laynie Newsome, vice president of sales and marketing at Vizio, in a statement. “With these mid-sized plasmas now available…combined with our 50-inch plasmas, we are looking for significant growth in this category for 2008.”
