Yamaha Commercial Audio Systems rolled out a new Installation Series subwoofer, the SW1112, a smaller version of its IS1112.

According to company officials, the SW1112 is smaller than competing 12-inch subwoofers, and features 2,800-watt input capacity with peak 127 dB sound pressure level output. A 4-inch voice coil provides power handling and response, while a direct connection to full-range units removes the need for special speaker cables. Nominal impedance measures 8 ohms with power ratings of 700 watts (noise), 1,400 watts (PGM), and 2,800 watts (max). Sensitivity is rated at 93 dB.

“Our contracting customers have requested that we develop a lower-cost, efficient, subwoofer for our smaller Installation Series speaker models,” said Albert Cardenas, speaker product marketing manager, in a statement. “We believe the new SW1112 will satisfy their requirements.”

The SW1112 includes 12 M10 rigging points, two handles, a pole socket, NL4 and barrier strip connectors. Vibration damping rubber feet are also supplied. The new subwoofer is available with a black or white exterior finish and weighs 53 pounds.

The SW1112 Installation Series subwoofer is currently available with an MSRP of $1,199.
