For the NYC Visitors Center, VideoSonic Systems worked with GestureTek on a wayfinding system that includes three multitouch, Projectiondesign-based tables that also employ object recognition.

Using gestures or specialized “pucks” they place on the tables, users can choose a destination, launch a Google Earth fly-through of New York, build an itinerary, then print out directions or send an e-mail or SMS text message to a cell phone. Fly-throughs are displayed on a 4x4 HD videowall composed of Salitek Orion 42-inch monitors. Four additional CyberTouch screens allow visitor to look up even more information.

“Audiences have reacted with excitement and awe when using the slick multitouch tables," said Daniel Hernandez, vice president of information technology for NYC & Company. "The software is colorful and rich in dynamic content, the user interface is fluid and accurate, and the screens have amazing resolution."
