Edina, Minn.-based Alpha Video, a leading professional video systems integrator, announced a new program to recognize the outstanding high school AV/media coordinator in Minnesota. The program was announced in cooperation with the getSTEM Web portal, a website established to improve science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in Minnesota schools.

The program will select one high school AV/media coordinator for their effective and innovative implementation of audio, video, and media technology. It is open to all high schools in Minnesota. The entry form is available online at www.alphavideo.com/av-award. Entries must be submitted by October 1.

“Most high school principals will tell you that the AV/media coordinator is a highly valuable, although sometimes under recognized member of the high school staff,” said Stan Stanek, president and CEO of Alpha Video, in a statement. “Working in the background, the AV/media person can be called on to install a sound system, operate a production studio or even manage a video distribution network. This award will shine a spotlight on this essential position that helps a high school to run efficiently.”

The program is being sponsored by Sharp Electronics, PolyVision, and Extron, The award winner’s high school will receive a Sharp PGD2510X projector, a PolyVision interactive whiteboard, and an Extron PoleVault system.

The winning coordinator will receive a plaque on October 27 at Alpha Video’s Education Summit, which is being held this year in conjunction with InfoComm’s AVWeek. AVWeek is an international celebration of the AV industry organized by InfoComm International. The winner will also be acknowledged during the annual TIES 2010 Education Technology Conference in December at the Minneapolis Hyatt Regency.
