Altinex Ships 8×8 HDMI Switcher

Altinex has released its new MX430-101 8 X 8 HDMI Matrix Switcher for training facilities, presentation spaces, and other multimedia environments incorporating multiple video sources and displays.

It can simultaneously distribute any input to any one output, all eight outputs, or any combination of outputs while maintaining full HDMI image resolution and signal integrity, according to the company.

“The MX430-101 is a versatile and comprehensive solution for managing the multiple video sources and displays typically found in today’s sophisticated AV systems,” said Phil Hale, Altinex vice president of sales and marketing, in a statement. “Featuring a variety of control options designed to optimize the system for any type of environment and performance specs that compliment the equipment being connected to it, the MX430-101 is ideal for education, corporate business presentation spaces, and other applications where sound and picture from a variety of sources must be managed quickly and easily.”

The MX430-101 supports computer sources up to UXGA and video sources up to 1080p. It is HDMI V1.3 compliant for deep color with lossless digital audio, such as Dolby’s TrueHD Master Audio. Altinex officials said the matrix switcher also supports HDCP V1.1 for content protection with individual key management on each output.

The MX430-101 is controllable via standard RS-232 or infrared (optical or digital by means of a handheld remote or a 3.5 mm jack for digital IR input). It also utilizes the standard Altinex serial protocol similar to the company’s other MultiTasker products, for integration with other Altinex AV system equipment. Front-panel control includes six programmable “snap-shot” configurations that provide rapid access to frequently used equipment combinations.

The switcher handles EDID negotiation in one of two ways. In TV Mode, the MX430-101 connects the input with the first HDMI-recognized output starting at Output 1 through Output 4. In Standard Mode, the MX430-101 pulls EDID resolutions from an internal table.

In terms of system cabling, the MX430-101 reclocks each outbound signal. This is important when signals are distributed significant distances from the matrix switcher, according to the company. The switcher supports lengths up to 33 feet for both input and output at maximum HD performance

The Altinex MX430-101 8 X 8 Matrix Switcher package includes the matrix unit, an IR remote, an IR extended receiver, a supporting bottom rail for mounting stability, a power supply, and a 6-foot power cable. It’s available now at an MSRP of $4,550.
