Ultra-wideband technology is here, as Audio-Technica proved with the flashy launch of its new SpectraPulse UWB microphone system. SpectraPulse bypasses the increasingly congested RF environment to deliver clear, intelligible audio without the performance and setup issues associated with conventional wireless systems.
It offers unprecedented levels of security, making it ideal for conference or boardrooms, corporate events and meetings, courtrooms and other contractor and system integrator applications in the business, government, and commercial markets. SpectraPulse uses up to 14 simultaneous channels that operate without RF competition, frequency hunting and coordination, white-space issues, or infringement from other wireless systems or radio sources.
A basic system consists of a digital receiver module (U.S. list $8,600), boundary mic transmitters (U.S. list $1,300 each), audio control interface (U.S. list $4,600), and a charging/encryption interface (U.S. list $1,700). An optional system encryption software package, which meets AES 128-bit encryption standards approved by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, is available (U.S. list $2,000).
