Aurora Multimedia recently added six new HDMI products to its Aspyre line of signal management devices, including three new converters, a new fiber extender, and two new HDMI splitters.

Aurora ASP-FIBRS1

The ASP-FIBRS1 Fiber HDMI Extender offers an easy way to extend a full HD HDMI signal up to 300 meters away over a single-core fiber, according to the company. Transmitted video is uncompressed to ensure the best video and audio quality. The ASP-FIBRS1 also supports RS-232 which can transmit and receive serial data between a controller and display. In addition, IR can be sent from the destination back to the source for use with IR remote controls.

The fiber extender is HDCP-compliant and supports resolutions up to 1080p or 1920×1200/60Hz.

Auroras new HDMI converters include the ASP-VTH, ASP-HTD, and ASP-DTH. The ASP-VTH offers an easy and instant approach for converting analog PC video (1920×1200 maximum resolution) or YPbPr with either digital audio (S/PDIF) or analog stereo audio to digital HDMI. Instead of using analog and digital matrices in a system, the ASP-VTH converts the analog signal into digital allowing a single HDMI digital matrix to be used. This simplifies the system, reduces the amount of cabling, and lowers the cost of the system, according to the company.

The ASP-HTD HDMI to DVI & Audio Converter provides a way to convert digital HDMI to digital video (DVI-D) and both digital audio (S/PDIF) and analog stereo audio. The ASP-HTD solves a common compatibility issues with HDMI and DVI display devices when used together on the output of a matrix. By learning the EDID of the HDMI display and using the ASP-HTD on each output that has a DVI device connected, the system will be able to provide the audio to the HDMI displays while allowing the video to be displayed on the DVI devices.

The ASP-DTH DVI & Audio to HDMI Converter transforms digital video (DVI-D) and both digital audio (S/PDIF) and analog stereo audio to digital HDMI. With this module, DVI-based devices such as a PC with S/PDIF or analog stereo audio can connect to an HDMI display at a low cost.

Finally, the ASP-14H and ASP-18H are HDMI v1.3 distribution amplifiers with EDID management built-in. HD video and high quality audio can be transmitted to four or eight different locations without losing quality. With automatic EDID learning, these splitters will effectively avoid HDMI compatibility issues and offer the best HDMI support for HDMI splitters. They are compatible with PC resolutions up to 1920×1200/60Hz, 1080p, 2K, and HDTV. With 12-bit deep color video and high definition audio support, the ASP-14H and ASP-18H are suitable for AV broadcasting, digital signage, and education applications, company officials said.
