AVS Moves Into LEED Headquarters

The newly constructed 72,000-square foot building, Barthelson Plaza, uses the latest technologies available as they pertain to environmental impact and energy conservation. It was constructed to achieve Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Certification, according to the company.

“We are very excited about our new facility, which we feel is a reflection of the company’s growth and vision for the future,” said Michele Ferreira, vice president of sales and marketing at AVS, in a statement. “So many companies are coming to the Northern Virginia region for its resources and proximity to Washington, D.C. We felt it was important to remain in Fairfax County where we are able to provide services to our customers, the majority of which are in the D.C. Metro region and who operate in mission-critical environments.”
Located just south of Dulles International Airport in Northern Virginia, AVS’ new facility has more than 20,000 square feet of warehouse and integration space, a state-of-the-art gigabit Ethernet network to support video, data and voice over IP, offices for more than 150 technical and administrative staff, as well as a cafeteria and conference room facilities. The building was designed to allow AVS to better provide systems monitoring, service deployment, and engineering and technical support to its customers on a 24/7 day basis. In continuing with the company’s effort to use sustainable business practices, AVS’s new facility uses the latest energy conservation technologies and the highest quality of all-natural or recycled materials inside and out, according to the firm.
“Our new facility is a significant milestone in AVS’ growth and expansion,” said Barry Goldin, vice president of operations at AVS, in a statement. “Despite the continued economic climate, our business continues to grow due to our reputation, experience and the hard work and dedication our staff places in providing a great product and service to our customers.”
AVS supports many national security facilities around the country for the Department of Defense, the State Department, Homeland Security, the Department of Transportation, and other agencies, with their command and control, video teleconferencing, and audiovisual facilities. One of the keys to its growth has been AVS’s partnership with the Pentagon Renovation (PENREN) program, where AVS has been responsible for design and integration of AV systems for the majority of the Pentagon’s briefing and command and control facilities since 1995.
