Pros know there’s more to a mount than what holds a display or projector in place. From wall to ceiling mounts, slim to ultraslim, large-venue to short-throw, there’s a lot to consider. And it seems that now, more than ever, manufacturers are tuning in to what integrators need. According to AV market research fi rm TFC Info, for instance, display wall mounts are almost universally in demand by business users (ceiling mounts, not as much). Not surprisingly, the most important criterion is compatibility with the client’s screens, but research shows users beginning to value a slim profile about as much as they require features such as safety locks or universal designs.

Chief Manufacturing engineers have noted the trend toward “lower-profile” display mounts, due in part to wider adoption of applications such as videoconferencing, digital signage, menu boards, and videowalls. Peerless officials call the drive to keep up with ultrathin flat-panel TVs “the race to the wall.”

That goes for projector mounts, too. As those products get smaller, customers want them closer to screens. Short-throw projector mounts are as close as you get these days to a red-hot trend in the market for video mounts.
