Casio America said it is expanding its line of Green Slim projectors with four new models of increased brightness–the XJ-A255V, XJ-A250, XJ-A155V, and XJ-A150. Casio touts the Green Slim line as sporting the world’s first mercury-free, laser and LED hybrid light source. The new models run at 3,000 lumens, making them suitable for a variety of applications including business, education, digital signage, home entertainment, and gaming, according to the company.

“Casio is proud to build on the Green Slim line of mercury-free projectors with the addition of the 3,000 lumen models,” said Frank Romeo, vice president of Casio’s business projector division, in a statement. “The additions demonstrate the advancements of technology and convey Casio’s commitment to establishing its hybrid light source as the industry’s premier solid state lighting solution.”

Laser/LED light source uses blue light from a blue laser, green light converted from blue laser light with a fluorescent element, and light emitted by a high-lumen red LED through a DLP chip onto the screen. The resulting projector is also in a slim (1.7″) and lightweight (5 pounds), with a light source that lasts 20,000 hours, according to Casio.

Among the new Green Slim projectors are two models with native WXGA resolution at 1280×800 pixels (16:10 aspect ratio), plus new USB-enabled models that can project content without a PC. The USB-enabled Green Slim models include a wireless adapter and can be wirelessly connected to up to 32 Windows-based computers simultaneously with up to four windows displayed on screen at one time.

All the new models come with a wide-angle 2X zoom lens and an HDMI terminal. Ceiling mounting is possible using commercially available hardware and brackets sold separately.

Casio said the Green Slim models will be available at pro AV Dealers and reseller partners in this month with MSRPs of $1,499 to $1,799.
